The onset of action and the duration of effect of Generic Tricor is not clinically established.

Generic Tricor works by increasing the process of natural lipid breakdown. This eliminates the bad cholesterol and triglycerides from the blood and increases the levels of good cholesterol (HDL).

Dose

• Take this medicine orally as directed by the physician.
• It is generally prescribed for once a day daily dosing.
• Generic Tricor can be consumed with or without meals.
• Take this medicine regularly and the same time every day for maximum benefit.
• It is absolutely necessary to follow the physician’s advice on diet and exercise.
• It may require about two months to get the desired effect of the medicine.
• Do not increase the dose or length of duration of treatment than advised by the physician. This will only increase risk of side effects.

Side Effects

The most common side effects observed with Generic Tricor include liver problems, breathing issues, abdominal pain, muscle problems, and nausea.

Inform your doctor immediately if you suffer from any serious side effects such as easy bleeding or bruising, signs of infection such as fever, persistent sore throat, and unusual tiredness.

Remember, your doctor has prescribed you this medication only after judging that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.

Precautions

• Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are allergic to its active component of any other drug of its class.
• If you are taking any other medicines for lowering cholesterol, you should take Generic Tricor one hour before or at least four to six hours after taking this drug. These medicines can bind to this drug and interfere with its absorption.
• Inform your doctor if you have history of kidney disease, gall bladder disease and liver dysfunction.
• Before undergoing any surgery, always inform your physician about all the medicinal products that you are using, including prescription drugs, over the counter medicines, herbal products and supplements.
• The active component, Fenofibrate, is very similar to Fenofibric acid. So avoid medicines containing Fenofibric acid while on treatment with this medication.

Warnings

• This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It may pose risk to the unborn baby. Consult your physician before use.
• This medicine is not suitable for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before breast feeding.
• This medicine should be used with caution in older patients.
• This medicine is also not suitable for use in children.
• Close monitoring of kidney and liver functions is required during treatment with this medicine.
