Generic Advair Inhaler Prevents and Controls Asthma Symptoms

Generic Advair contains two active drugs in aerosol form; they are Fluticasone and Salmeterol. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid that works by reducing the irritation and swelling of the air passages in the lungs. Salmeterol is a beta agonist that works by dilating the air passages in the lungs to help an asthmatic patient breathe much easier.

Dose

• It is imperative to read the patient information leaflet and instructions provided by your doctor before using Generic Advair.
• Inhale the aerosol medicine orally as advised by your doctor.
• The dose is prescribed after considering a patient’s age, medical condition, and response to the drug.
• Use this asthma inhaler twice a day (every 12 hours). You may not feel or taste the drug when you inhale the medicine through mouth. Please do not exhale back into the inhaler.
• If you are about to use any other inhaler at the same time, wait at least for a minute and then use it. Keep a proper gap between doses than taking them at once.
• Gargle and rinse your mouth after each use to prevent irritation in the throat and mouth.
• Use Generic Advair regularly to control and prevent asthma symptoms. Use it at the same time(s) each day.
• Do not decrease or increase the dose and do not stop the medicine on your own.

Side Effects

• Throat irritation
• Hoarseness
• Headache
• Upset stomach

These are commonly reported adverse reactions of Generic Advair. Get immediate medical attention if these side effects persist. Many people who use Generic Advair do not experience serious side effects. However, this asthma inhaler medication may increase blood pressure, so monitor your blood pressure levels on a regular basis and check with your doctor if the figures are high.

Precautions

• Before you use Generic Advair, tell your doctor if you have any drug allergy, including Fluticasone or Salmeterol.
• The medicine may contain certain inactive drugs that can cause an allergic reaction. Check with your doctor for more details.
• Also, before you use this asthma medication, tell your doctor if you have any medical condition, especially of tuberculosis, high blood pressure, herpes, osteoporosis, or heart disease.
• Before undergoing any surgical intervention, inform your doctor about all the medications you use, including OTC or prescription drugs, and herbal supplements, as Generic Advair may adversely interact with some medications or products.

Warnings

• Older people with COPD are at a greater risk of developing pneumonia while on Generic Advair medication. They also are more sensitive to the side effects of this asthma medication.
• This asthma inhaler medication may delay a child's growth and development if used for a longer period of time.
• Consult with doctor regularly to check your child’s weight, height while he/she is using the asthma medicine.
• Generic Advair should be used only when your doctor recommends it. Discuss all the merits and demerits of using this asthma medication with your doctor.
• It is unclear whether the medication passes into breast milk. Prior to breast-feeding your baby, check with your doctor.
