Description

Deslor is recommended for treating seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria. It is nothing but an affordable generic version of Clarinex because it too contains desloratadine as an active ingredient. Deslor is effective at providing relief from allergy symptoms such as sneezing, red/itchy/watery eyes, nasal congestion, watery nose, and skin rashes with intense itching and burning. Desloratadine belongs to the class of drugs called antihistamines.

Working

Deslor (desloratadine) is a long-acting antihistamine. Histamine is a substance that is released when an allergic reaction takes place. The body produces histamine when the immune system tries to fight off allergens, such as pollen, dust, molds, pet dander, etc. Histamine is responsible for causing inflammation of the mucus membranes of the upper respiratory tract and the skin. Desloratadine suppresses the secretion of histamine in order to bring down inflammation and provide relief from allergy symptoms.

Dose

  • The recommended dose of Deslor in patients aged 12 and above is 5 mg once daily, which can be taken with or without food, or as advised by a doctor.
  • Read the prescribing instructions carefully before you start taking Deslor tablets and each time when you get its refill. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.
  • Do not increase or decrease your dose or take this allergy medication for a longer period than recommended. Overuse or overdose could increase the risk of adverse effects.
  • See your doctor or allergist if your condition fails to improve or if it gets worse even after using Deslor as suggested.
  • Take your missed dose as soon as you remember, but do not take two doses at the same time to make up for your missed dose. See your doctor for more information.

Side Effects

  • Sore throat
  • Nausea
  • Tiredness
  • Upset stomach
  • Muscle pain

In children, Deslor may cause loss of appetite, diarrhea, or sleep deprivation. If any of these side effects persist, immediately seek medical attention. Stop the treatment and see your doctor if you experience a serious allergic reaction – such as a skin rash, itching, dizziness, swelling of the face or throat), or trouble breathing.

Precautions

  • Before taking Deslor, tell your doctor if you are allergic to desloratadine, loratadine, or any other drugs. This allergy medicine is not advisable if you are allergic to desloratadine or loratadine.
  • Before using this allergy medication, tell your doctor your medical issues, if any, such as kidney disease or liver disease.
  • More importantly, tell your doctor which medications you have been taking because desloratadine may interact with some drugs, such as loratadine.
  • During pregnancy, Deslor must be used only if it is indicated by your doctor. Discuss every risk and benefit of the drug with your doctor in advance.
  • Desloratadine may pass into breast milk so ask your doctor whether you can use it during breastfeeding.

Warnings

  • Typically, Deslor does not cause dizziness or drowsiness when used as advised. However, it is advisable not to drive, rise, use machinery, or do activities that need your alertness.
  • Before any general or dental surgery, tell your surgeon or dentist that you have been using Deslor for seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis.
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages during treatment with Deslor because the combination of alcohol and desloratadine increases the risk of dizziness and sleepiness.
  • Deslor should be used with great caution in patients, especially older patients, with liver or kidney disease.
  • You should stop taking Deslor at least three days before you take an allergy test as the drug may affect the results of the test.

I have recently switched to Deslor from Clarinex as I found it pretty cheap. I always keep Deslor tablets with me because I have perennial allergies. I buy Deslor online from pharmaexpressrx. Offer good deals with speedy delivery.
