Working

After taking the dose orally, the effect can be observed in the period of two hours. The action lasts for a duration of 12 hours.

It helps in preventing the formation of blots clots in the blood vessels. It does so by blocking the platelets from sticking together. It thus allow the blood to flow freely in your body.

Dose

• Before starting this medicine, read the patient information leaflet carefully.
• Take this dose only as directed by physician.
• Taking less or more dose can result in undesirable consequences.
• This medicine can be taken with or without food.
• It is generally recommended to take 75mg oral tablet once in a day.
• Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor.
• Take this medicine on regular basis to obtain the maximum benefit from it.

Side Effects

The most commonly observed side effects of this medicine include easy bruising, easy bleeding, constipation, diarrhea and headache.

Although unlikely, serious bleeding in stomach, gut, eyes or brain may result. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely. However, get immediate medical help, if you experience any of the symptoms such as severe allergic reaction, including rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness and difficulty in breathing.

Precautions

• Before consuming Generic Plavix, inform your physician if you are allergic to its active component or to drug similar to it.
• Inform your doctor beforehand if you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding inside the brain or eye, recent surgery and bleeding disorder such as hemophilia.
• Avoid activities that increase your chances of getting bruised or injured while on treatment with Generic Plavix.
• Before undergoing surgery, inform your physician about all the drug products that you are taking, including prescription and OTC drugs, herbal products, or dietary supplements.
• Avoid consuming grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while on treatment with this medication unless advised by your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the risk of side effects associated with this medicine.
• Your physician will advise you to stop this medication for at least five days before any surgical procedure as there are chances of blood loss during surgery.

Warnings

• Avoid alcohol consumption while on treatment with this medication as alcohol can increasing the risk of bleeding in stomach.
• This medicine should be used during only if necessary. The benefits and risk must be discussed with physician before taking this medicine.
• It is not known whether the drug is excreted in to the breast milk. So, use it only if required and consult your physician before taking it.
• The missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember.
• Skip the dose and take the next, if it is already time for your next scheduled dose.
• In case you overdose, seek immediate medical treatment.
