Penile Prosthesis

A penile prosthesis is another good option for the treatment of the erectile dysfunction in men. This device is basically an artificial device that is to be placed inside the penis cylinder in order to provide sufficient rigidity to enjoy the sexual intercourse. A penile prosthesis neither enlarges the penis nor does inflatable prosthesis lengthen after inflation. If you are thinking that after the implant you could get the same penile length and girth as when you were young then you are going to be wrong. This implant just promises you with the serviceable erection needed for the sexual intercourse that may be quite satisfactory for you and your partner. However there are some side effects to this implant too. Like the implant of oversized prosthesis may lead to penile pain and may require another surgery for its replacement. Adding to this in the replacement surgery there is a greater chance of injury to urethra.

How ever prosthesis is a foreign body not unlike other transplantable bodies like hips, knee etc. prosthesis is subject to inflation hence creating a great chance of getting infected that may result of its removal. High doses of anti bodies are injected before and after implant in order to prevent any kind of infection due to prosthesis.

Similarly are the chances of problems like malfunction of any of the device parts implanted in the penile region due to its artificial nature.

However due to the chance for infection it is taken as the last option by our medical experts. Before opting for the transplant doctor feels to think for the other medication options if left. However some are prescribed with simpler options like Generic Viagra and other simpler options.
