An Account of Male Impotence

Male impotence is considered to be the most devastating disease in men because it adversely affects their sex life and make them impotent. Impotency is the most shameless condition that men face in their life. Impotency is the condition in men when they are unable to produce the offspring by the sexual intercourse. Previously during the ancient time due to the scarcity of the knowledge, impotence was considered to be the curse of the god and several rituals were performed to get away from this curse and once again become impotent. In reality the male impotence has nothing to do with the God because god always gives us the blessings, but we are one who transforms it into the curse.

Male impotence has been most previously mentioned in the Samhita of Sushruta, this is generally termed as the first official reference to the male impotence. The male impotence is very old as it is also mentioned in the Bible. That time everybody thought that is woman’s impotence that was keeping them childless, but later on it was proved that the main problem was that of the male impotence. The first treatment for the male impotency is considered to be the baby crocodiles’ hearts mixed with wood oil to the appropriate consistency, and this then be smeared into the husband’s penis to restore his potency. It was believed that impotence was caused by witches. Many believed that tying a magic knot into a ring or a key using cord or a strip of leather, and then hiding it, caused impotence of the groom at a wedding. So many other wrong causes were thought by the people that caused impotence.

It was at the beginning of the Nineteenth century that scientist claimed that male impotence is the main reason because of which women are not able to bear a child. This was really a breakthrough in the history of the impotence. Otherwise lots of women were killed because they were thought to be incapable of boring a child. This was a sigh of relief to all the women who were not able to bore a child but a devastating condition for the male because it directly affected the self respect of the men. This was the most shameful condition that male faced ever in their life. Hence there started a research to find out the treatment to cure the impotence in men. The main problems that make men impotent are— presence of the immature sperms; premature ejaculation; erectile dysfunction; Peyronie’s disease; and scarcity of the sperms.

Due to presence of the immature sperms the ovule was not formed in the women’s womb, which certainly made men impotent as they were not able to produce there offspring. Premature ejaculation means the ejaculation occurs too soon, even before the men could have intercourse. So the sperms fail to reach the woman’s reproductive system leading to the impotence in men. Erectile dysfunction is supposed to be the worse condition in which men fail to either get the erection or sustain the erection for the sufficient time during the sexual copulation. Erectile dysfunction is the most common condition observed in around 60% of the men. Peyronie’s disease makes the penis deviated to the unfortunate angle making it difficult to penetrate inside the women’s vagina. Peyronie’s disease is indefinite curvature of penis that makes men impotent. Sometimes even the very less amounts of sperms are found in the men, which makes them incapable to give a child.

It was thus a necessary, to search a remedy on the male impotence because it was devastating the sex life of the couples considerably. It was in 1920 that Dr. J. R. Brinkley inserted goat glands for male enhancement. This treatment was not that much successful but gave a light of hope to men that someday there problems of erectile dysfunction would be treated. Later on in 1970, the first surgery that consisted of the penile implant was done and was found to be successful. But, the real breakthrough was the discovery of the Viagra by Pfizer in 1998 that was most efficient treatment to overcome the male impotence. Thus, here is tale of the male impotence that is still continued but will surely one day man will be able to search a medication that will be a permanent solution to the male impotence.
