The first type is Orchiectomy. This therapy involves the removal of the testicles most especially when too much androgen are produced. This type of hormonal therapy is considered to be the most affordable because of the simple procedures it involves. However, this method may be the simplest but the side effects are more associated with the alteration of hormone levels. Moreover, the effect of this method is permanent because the testicles are gone and can no longer be recovered. The second type of Hormonal Therapy for Impotence is the use of LHRH Analogs. This is more costly that Orchiectomy. However, most males would rather have this treatment because the testicles will not be removed entirely. The difference is that the analogs are implanted beneath the skin. The analog contains medications that will be responsible for lowering down the androgen levels. Symptoms brought by low level of androgens may persist. Another Hormonal Therapy for Impotence considered to work best in lowering down the androgen is the new drug called abarelix which also functions similarly as the analog. Although this therapy is new and its function is similar with the analog, it is said that the period it spends in lowering down the levels of androgen is shorter than that of the analog. Symptoms are also the same but the procedure is different. With this method, the buttocks are injected with abarelix and this is done regularly once every two weeks in the first month and subsequent therapy will be done monthly. Although Hormonal Therapy for Impotence is considered to be very effective in treating impotence and prostate cancer, issues and controversies about this therapy are still being discussed. Since this involves regular treatment and therapy, there is a question on when to start and when to stop it. The type of treatment using this one is also being discussed. Should it be intermittent or should it be continuous? As of now, there aren’t any clear answers for these questions. The only clear thing that matters most now is how this therapy can actually help treat impotence and prostate cancer. |
