What is Generic Viagra?

Viagra (generic name sildenafil) is a medication used to treat men who have trouble getting an erection, a condition called erectile dysfunction or impotence. Occasional patients who take Viagra get painful, long-lasting erections and have to see a doctor to solve the problem.Finally, there is some concern that some men, especially younger men who take Viagra recreationally and who don't really need it for physical reasons, may end up with a dependency on the drug. That is, they may become unable to maintain an erection without taking Viagra.

There are many precautions and warnings for Viagra to be aware of. For example, among the conditions you should let your healthcare provider know about before you take Viagra are leukemia, sickle cell anemia, high blood pressure, and liver disease or liver failure. Also, Viagra can interact with certain other medications (such as alpha blockers), and it does not provide any protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
